About Qi Gong
I am passionate about sharing Qi Gong as a way for people to harness their inner sources of energy and potential for growth and change. I bring over a decade of experience with Qi Gong and holistic therapy work. My teaching is based on the principles and ideas of classical Qi Gong with a spirit of openness and flexibility to encourage individual self-discovery, and to allow you to respond to your own body, feelings, and imagination.
Qi Gong is simple, mindful movement to bring flow, ease, and vitality into our bodies and whole self. The style of movement emphasises effortlessness, fluidity, coordination, alignment, and interconnection of whole body. The moves are designed to encourage mobilisation of our life energy (Qi) so it can circulate and nourish our whole body. A common experience is that this brings a sense of feeling light, open and spacious in body, as well as feeling centred, grounded and restored.
Another layer of Qi Gong is that it can help us to develop body awareness, especially of the sensations, textures and character of the inner landscape of our body. With this we can gain understanding and insight about how we use our bodies, how we respond to stress and challenges, and how we may better meet our needs.
Something I love about Qi Gong is that it is suitable for a wide range of physical abilities, and can be done sitting on a chair as well as standing. If it would be helpful, I would welcome a discussion about any health issues, disabilities or learning needs that you feel are relevant and that you would like me to consider in the teaching.
